Who else is giddy with excitement for Sunday morning? We know we are, and we've got quite a few surprises in store for you with SWAG!
We promised you a water temperature, and... it's a bit chilly. The WATER TEMPERATURE WAS 65.5 degrees average this morning. That means that this is a WETSUIT LEGAL event (obviously). On race morning, we invite everyone to get a little practice swimming in, to get warm, but only after you have gotten everything ready at transition.
For the swim start, we will have a fenced off area on the beach that we will let 10 swimmers at a time go through. EVERYONE can be in the water, but in order to start the race, you MUST exit the water and cross over the mats. This is a SELF-SEEDED event, so if you are fast and wanna show it, be right there to start. Your time will start at the sound of the horn. The mat is just so that we can check you in and know what time you started.
We are going to evaluate, on race morning, which side is best to set up the start corral chute, so the video, which can be found at https://youtu.be/5shpN44l67I, or at the bottom of the www.BackBayTriathlon.com website, shows off the new swim start area.
We DID get a chance to preliminarily mark the bike course, so if you want to see what you are riding, head on down to Public Landing and follow the orange arrows. On race morning, these will be supplemented by LARGE A-frame arrows, as well as Fire Police/Law Enforcement controlling all the intersections.
We also added a few extra markings on the main road, to show off where the RUMBLE STRIPS are. If you haven't seen a rumble strip, they are small cuts in the pavement to let cars know they are on the shoulder of the road. They are NOT fun to ride a bike over. We have put orange tape marks at the beginning of the long sections, to keep you safe.
ON SATURDAY MORNING, WE WILL BE SENDING OUT AN EMAIL WITH A LINK TO A GOOGLE FORM FOR COVID SYMPTOMS. YOU MUST FILL OUT THAT FORM, PRIOR TO COMING ON SITE SUNDAY MORNING. IF YOU DO NOT FILL OUT THE FORM, YOU WILL USE A QR CODE TO SCAN (with your phone) AND YOU WILL FILL IT OUT THEN. NO ONE WILL BE IN TRANSITION WITHOUT FILLING OUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE.
We hope that you have a great Friday and look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday morning. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
IF you have a sore throat, cough, or other aches that you cannot attribute to something else, or have a fever over 100 degrees, or have been in recent contact with someone with COVID-19, please let us know and you will receive a 100% free deferral to the 2021 event.
Thank you! Be well! Be kind! See you Sunday
